Blue Devils See compact-able Jump in Top 25 Poll'

The Duke basketball team is one of five ACC representatives in this week’s AP Poll

All Duke basketball did last week was record Saturday’s 80-56 home win over unranked Charlotte. But the 1-0 mark was enough to propel the Blue Devils (6-3, 0-1 ACC) one spot to No. 21 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll.

Among three-loss squads, only No. 12 Tennessee ranks higher than Duke.

Arizona remains at No. 1 in the country, followed by Kansas, Purdue, Houston, and UConn to round out the top five.

In the meantime, four other ACC teams are ranked alongside Duke in this week’s AP Poll.

UNC (7-2, 1-0 ACC) remained at No. 9. Clemson (9-0, 1-0 ACC) jumped from No. 24 to No. 13 in the country. Virginia (8-1, 1-0 ACC) jumped to No. 22 after going two weeks without a ranking under their belt. And Miami (7-2, 1-0 ACC) dropped nine spots to No. 24.

Second-year head coach Jon Scheyer’s Blue Devils will face unranked Hartford (6-3, 0-0 CAA) in Cameron Indoor Stadium on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2).

The Blue Devils will next have a week off before facing No. 6 Baylor (9-0, 0-0 Big 12) in New York City’s Madison Square Garden on December 20 at 7 p.m. (ESPN). Depending on how other ACC teams perform in their remaining non-conference games, that could be the Blue Devils’ last chance to finish in the top ten this season.
