CBB Recruiting Weekly Show: re-ranking the class of 2022

Brandon Miller turned out to be the best player to come out of the class of 2022, even though he wasn’t even the best player on his EYBL team.

In the most recent edition of College Basketball Recruiting Weekly, we look back at past rankings in the second of two parts of the series.

This particular episode takes a look back at the national class of 2021, or NBA rookies today for players who pursued a one-and-done career path.

The fact that we missed so much of this class because of COVID made it particularly challenging to grade. When we returned to the court in July 2021, the national sneaker circuits had been closed for two years, and it felt as though we had started over.

Currently ranked as the best player out of this class, Brandon Miller, and class winner Nick Smith were summer teammates on Brad Beal Elite, which makes this class the most ironic of all. Despite how unbelievable it may seem now, Smith was that team’s best player at the Peach Jam.

Dereck Lively, Dariq Whitehead, Kyle Filipowski, Cason Wallace, GG Jackson, Kel’el Ware, Dillon Mitchell, Keyonte George, and Amari Bailey followed him to take first place in the class overall.

In order to compare where we are now to where we were two years ago, Travis Branham, Eric Bossi, and I “re-ranked” the class in this episode.

Gradey Dick (21), Jett Howard (45), Judah Mintz (63), Donovan Clingan (73), Taylor Hendricks (84), Brice Sensabaugh (86), Noah Clowney (99), and Ryan Dunn (147) are a few of the athletes who have already surpassed their high school ranking.
