Duke basketball: Decision mounting on 5star forward

Decision day is looming for Duke basketball prospect Patrick Ngongba II and the recruiting experts are making their predictions for where the 5-star recruit will end up next season.

Everything began on Wednesday night when Ngongba’s commitment to the Blue Devils was announced on Trilly Donovan’s website. Donovan is an anonymous college basketball insider on social media.

The top player in the nation, Cooper Flagg, who just committed to Duke on Monday, and 5-star wing VJ Edgecombe also visited Duke over the past weekend.

Following his official visit to Durham in early June, Ngongba made an unofficial visit.

Following Cooper Flagg, Duke might swiftly expand its recruiting class

After narrowing his list of potential candidates to Duke, Kansas State, and Kentucky, Patrick Ngongba declared he would make his choice on Saturday, November 4. He then provided a more precise timing for the announcement, saying it will happen at 2:30 p.m. ET.

He started his official visit to Kansas State just one week after his return to Durham. While many once thought the Wildcats would be the front-runners to get the forward, the talk has now shifted to Duke.

According to 247Sports, Ngongba is ranked as the No. 5 centre in the nation and the No. 25 player in the Class of 2024.

Duke basketball is accumulating recruit projections.
A Crystal Ball from 247Sports Ryan Gilbert, a staff writer for the 247Sports Kansas State website GoPowercat, made a prediction on Thursday that Ngongba would commit to the Wildcats following his official visit to Manhattan. However, when four more predictions for the Blue Devils were made, Gilbert’s prediction switched to Duke.

Due to Cooper Flagg’s choice, Duke already has the best recruiting class in the nation, but they have added three more players to their roster: four-star wing Darren Harris, five-star guard Kon Knueppel, and five-star wing Isaiah Evans.

Duke is still in the running for a 5-star guard and the second-best player in the recruiting class, Dylan Harper, in addition to VJ Edgecombe.
