Duke basketball is about 48 hours away from landing a fifth 2024 prize for highly rated

Duke Basketball: Patrick Ngongba II predictions are in.

Patrick Ngongba II, a five-star basketball recruit from Duke and the 25th overall pick in the 247Sports 2024 Composite, is expected to make an announcement on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET, according to a report published on Thursday by 24/7 High School Hoops. Kentucky, Kansas State, and Duke are his three finalists.

According to recruiting insiders, the Blue Devils have seized most, if not all, of the momentum with two days left before the 6-foot-11, 235-pound center announces a winner.

With an all-time batting average of 63-for-65 in predicting prep players’ destinations, “Trilly Donovan” shared the Blue Devil GIF in the Trilly Predictions for Ngongba on Wednesday night. At that point, predictions for the 247Sports Crystal Ball started trickling in, and they all picked Duke as the team to beat.

Subsequently, additional experts adopted a similar approach on Thursday morning, not only at 247Sports but also in the Rivals FutureCast and On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

The five Crystal Ball predictions place Jon Scheyer, the head coach of Duke basketball, as the front-runner to sign Paul VI Catholic (Va.) big man and four-star winger Darren Harris, a 2024 Blue Devil commit. Scheyer & Co. is predicted by the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine to have an 85.1 percent chance of winning.

While Rivals still shows a handful of experts going with longtime suitor Kansas State, those predictions popped up around Ngongba’s official visit with the Wildcats this past weekend. The most recent ones from Thursday morning favor the Blue Devils.

Patrick Ngongba II, who has been on two official visits to Duke, is the only center on the Blue Devils’ 2024 wishlist.

If Ngongba, an agile athlete for his size, commits to Scheyer on Saturday, he’ll strengthen Duke’s standing atop the class rankings.

The Blue Devils enjoy commitments from four top 60 prospects in the 2024 cycle: No. 1 Cooper Flagg, No. 15 Kon Knueppel, No. 18 Isaiah Evans, and No. 60 Darren Harris.
