Duke Basketball Prize Enjoys 30 in Florida’

No matter the time of day, it doesn’t take long for future Duke basketball weapon Isaiah Evans to catch fire.

On Friday morning at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla., Duke basketball signee Isaiah Evans scored 30 points to lead North Meck (N.C.) to a consolation semifinal win over Millennium (Ariz.).

Evans, a 6-foot-6, 170-pound five-star wing who committed to Duke in April and signed during the early signing period in November, was the only player to play all 32 minutes. He was 11-for-23 from the field, 5-for-12 from three, and 3-for-3 from the free throw line.

Evans, on the other hand, did not limit his performance to the attacking end of the floor. No, the slick talent, ranked 13th on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, had three thefts and two blocks. He was also two rebounds away from a 30-10 double-double.

But make no mistake: Isaiah Evans’ forte is as a bucket-getter. After all, he drained 10 three-pointers in a game two weeks ago, finishing with 36 points. In March, the Charlotte native scored 62 points in a playoff game.

He and North Meck will compete for the consolation title against McEachern (Ga.) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET in Fort Myers.

Meanwhile, two other members of Duke’s five-deep 2024 recruiting class, Montverde (Fla.) five-star forward Cooper Flagg and Paul VI (Va.) four-star sharpshooter Darren Harris, are expected to face off in a semifinal matchup in the winners’ bracket at 7 p.m. Friday.
