Meleek Thomas is an admitted Duke basketball enthusiast, but it appears the Blue Devils have ground to make up in his recruitment.
Guard Meleek Thomas of Lincoln Park, Pennsylvania, who is a candidate to reclassify to 2024 and ranked No. 6 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, mentioned potential Duke basketball suitors among his 12 candidates in September. Villanova, Miami, Michigan, Pitt, Tennessee, UConn, Auburn, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, and Miami are the others.
The six-foot-4, 175-pound five-star prospect, who has had an offer from Duke basketball since April, also stated that he was a Blue Devils fan growing up.
But, Thomas is planning four trips in the upcoming months, and none of them will be to Durham to see the Blue Devils, according to a report from On3’s Joe Tipton on Monday. Instead, he will travel to Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, and Kentucky (the Crimson Tide did not rank in his top 12).
Plans can, of course, change. Thus, it seems plausible that Thomas will visit Cameron Indoor Stadium for a Duke match at some time this year.
However, based on Monday’s news, it is possible to conclude that the Blue Devils are not the front-runners for the services of the explosive perimeter player at this time.
The 2025 wishlist of Duke basketball recruiters includes nine players, all of them are composite five-star talents, including Meleek Thomas.
Three other guards, Brayden Burries, Jalen Haralson, and Cayden Boozer—the twin brother of 2025’s No. 2 prospect, forward Cameron Boozer—who is the son of former Blue Devil star Carlos Boozer—are included on that list and are ranked in the top 20 overall in the class.
