Duke Recruiting: One Boozer Twin Has Decision Timeline in Mind

The two recruits who have been most consistently targeted by Duke basketball in 2025 are not in a rush to decide where their best opportunity lies.

Columbus High School (Fla.) five-star juniors Cayden and Cameron Boozer may well go their separate ways for college. And there’s no guarantee either of Duke basketball legend Carlos Boozer’s twin sons will commit to the Blue Devils.

Judging by their comments to the media at the Holiday Hoopsgiving showcase in Atlanta on Friday night, it sounds like neither is close to deciding on a winner in his recruitment.

“I think I’m definitely going to take my time on it,” 6-foot-3 guard Cayden Boozer, who is ranked No. 17 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, stated regarding the timeliness of his decision-making process. “It’s a big decision, and I don’t want to rush it.”

Cameron Boozer, the class’s second-best overall player at 6-foot-9 and 235 pounds, stated that he plans to choose a college around the beginning of his senior year, which is expected to occur late in the summer.

The Boozer twins have accompanied each other on official visits to Kentucky, Miami, Florida, and most recently, Duke University, where both their parents received their degrees. While in Durham, they went to see the Blue Devils lose to Arizona at home.

Cayden Boozer clarified, “We just visit the same schools because we have the same offers.” It would be fantastic if we attended the same school. However, we must consider it realistically and determine whether it is a good fit for us both. And we’ll take different routes if it’s not.

“But obviously, it would be awesome to play with [Cameron] in college.”

Can supporters of Duke basketball assume they’ll both end up as Blue Devils?

“I would advise against assuming that,” Cameron Boozer said.

Head coach Jon Scheyer has nine prospects on his wish list, including them. Nonetheless, their Duke offers arrived far sooner than those of the others, given that they have been designated Blue Devil targets since May 2022.

The remaining five-star players that Duke has targeted in the cycle are: five-star guard Jalen Haralson; five-star guard Brayden Burries; five-star guard Meleek Thomas; five-star centre Khaman Maluach; five-star forwards Caleb Wilson, Koa Peat, and Nate Ament.
