Tatum comdemn Cooper Flagg’s Duke decision ClutchPoints

With Cooper Flagg, a native of Maine, committing to the Duke Blue Devils on Monday, and the Boston Celtics at 3-0, it has been an incredible week for New England basketball.

The nation’s top high school boys basketball player, Flagg, ultimately chose Duke over the defending NCAA champions, UConn. The news that Flagg was leaving the area may depress many New Englanders, but Jayson Tatum, a talented player for the Celtics, was happy with the choice.

Tatum spent one season as a player at Duke, when he averaged 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. Not long later, Tatum was selected by the C’s third overall in the 2017 draught. According to Jay King of The Athletic, Tatum expressed his enthusiasm and ferocious allegiance to his previous institution when questioned about Flagg’s decision.

“It was fantastic. “[Flagg is] an incredible athlete,” he remarked. He will soon be a member of this league. pleased for him and his loved ones. Naturally delighted for Duke, but really, where else would you go? All of the top players go there.

Duke is known for turning out players that are ready for the NBA, but Flagg shouldn’t require much improvement. In eighth grade, he received his first Division I offer. He is a capable shooter, rebounder, and block with the best of them:

Ironically, at six feet eight inches, Tatum and Flagg are exactly the same height. According to Jamie Shaw of On3, Flagg even disclosed last year that he enjoys playing like Tatum. In fact, their games are quite similar.

Flagg remarked, “I always say I like to model my game after Jayson Tatum.”

Although it would be the Boston Celtics’ desire to have Cooper Flagg return to New England, he might be selected fast in the NBA Draught. In any case, the 16-year-old ought to shine at Duke, much like the guy he looks up to.
