Top Basketball Recruit Sees NIL Valuation Skyrocket After Duke Commitment

The top recruit in the Class of 2024 committed to Duke and his NIL valuation has gone through the roof.

On Monday, Cooper Flagg, the top recruit in the Class of 2024 and the likely number one pick overall in the 2025 NBA Draught, announced his commitment to Duke. He accomplished so while appearing on the cover of SLAM Magazine. One of the most highly sought-after recruits in recent memory is playing collegiate basketball at one of the elite schools.

Flagg’s social media following has skyrocketed as a result. Furthermore, since he made his promise public, his NIL valuation has increased dramatically.

Thanks to a $21,000 increase in his NIL valuation following the news, Flagg is now the second most valuable high school layer, only surpassed by Bryce James, the son of LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers (h/t Pete Nakos of On3). It is only a few days after Flagg’s $893,000 valuation that he decided on Duke.

After making his basketball debut at Montverde Academy the previous season, Flagg quickly attracted the attention of scouts with his performances at Peach Jam and Nike’s EYBL E16 Circuit.

Additionally, Flagg has noticed an increase in his social media following on X, TikTok, and Instagram. In a short period of time, he has attracted 23,000 new fans.

Duke has a reputation for producing one-and-done players, and Flagg is expected to follow suit given that NBA scouts and pundits are already talking about him as the probable No. 1 pick in 2025.

However, if the initial indications are correct, Cooper Flagg will surpass Bryce James in terms of NIL valuation.
