At least three more staffers have agreed to follow Garrett>

This offseason, an increasing number of Florida State employees who work off the pitch are taking promotions elsewhere.

Consider collegiate football as a kind of ladder. As an athlete, coach, or part of the off-field staff, the objective is to consistently advance to the next level. Opportunities are scarce in an already fiercely competitive sector, therefore one must seize them when they present itself.

This winter, an increasing number of Florida State’s off-field employees are receiving promotions. Most of that activity happened after Duke’s new head coach Manny Diaz appointed former director of scouting John Garrett as general manager of player personnel.

At least three other employees have since consented to accompany Garrett to Durham. In a variety of capacities, the three will support the Blue Devils in the front office.

Mitch Ciombor spent two years at Florida State as a student equipment manager and player personnel assistant. He will be joining Duke as the Coordinator of High School Recruiting.

Michael Zerbe is moving on to the next phase of his career with the Blue Devils after spending six years working with the football programme and much longer as a student at Florida State. During his tenure with the Seminoles, he served in a variety of capacities, including assistant director of player personnel, assistant manager, assistance in student recruitment, and player personnel assistant.

Zerbe is going to join Duke as their Director of Scouting for the team’s defensive end. His background ought to be helpful as he adjusts to his new position.

Jenna Kinker, the new Director of Recruiting Operations at Duke, will replace a member of the recruiting staff at Florida State. She had worked as the coordinator of on-campus recruitment for the Seminoles for more than a year before. Kinker worked as the UT-Chattanooga on-campus recruit coordinator and as an intern in football at UCF.

Due to the departures, Florida State will be bringing in a few new players during the offseason. Cooper Williams, a graduate assistant, also accepted a position at Missouri earlier this week, which hurt the Seminoles.
