The Mexican has arrived in Dundee after agreeing a year-long loan.
Dundee supporters will adore the new addition. According to manager Tony Docherty, Cesar Garza is passionate and energetic.
With a one-year loan agreement for the Mexican U/20 international, the Dark Blues made their first acquisition of the winter, even though the transfer window had not yet started.
This is the first action since Dundee and the top-tier Mexican squad formed a strategic alliance.
Docherty is eager to involve him as well.
The Dens manager declared, “Cesar is a very talented young football player who has played 12 times for Monterrey.”
He’s a midfield player who will provide us with fierce competition for spots.
Caesar is a highly regarded young footballer who played for the Mexico U/20 team that won the CONCACAF Championship. We’ve had our sights set on one.
He complements our style of play. He will train with the squad over the next few days, and I am excited to have him involved.
“It’s good to have him in, and if everything goes according to plan and he gets cleared, he might be able to play in the derby.”
‘Loves a slide tackle’
Docherty claims that Garza will add more Mexican fire to the Dark Blues after joining fellow countryman Antonio Portales at Dundee.
The Dundee manager went on to say, “He is more of a combative No 6 and I think he will appeal to our fans, like when Antonio came here.”
“He is energetic, loves a slide tackle and a challenge – Dundee fans in my time here can relate to that.
“I think they will enjoy watching him play.
“He plays with real passion, like Tony, and that was the first thing that attracted us to him along with his technical ability.”
Two stars return
However, when Dundee hosts Ross County on Boxing Day in a pivotal Premiership match, Garza won’t be available.
He won’t be able to play until next week.
Docherty is happy that two important individuals are back to full training, though, and that another is getting close to returning.
Despite being sidelined by the virus last week, Simon Murray made an appearance as a substitute at Rangers on Saturday, while Seun Adewumi missed time due to an injury sustained at Hearts.
“Adewumi and Murray will be added to the squad because we had them train this morning,” Docherty stated on Monday.
Ziyad Larkeche is still out, but Clark Robertson is drawing near, and Joe Shaughnessy is clearly not quite ready, so Scott Fraser won’t be prepared for this one.
“Hopefully, by the end of this week, Clark will be training and ready for the next games. Fingers crossed for the
Derby.
Prior to the January 2 derby with Dundee United, Dundee travels to St Mirren following their match against Ross County on Thursday.
