Plot to kick Dundee out of the SPFL takes a new turn with Rangers involved.

Due to problems with the Dens Park pitch, Dundee’s match against Rangers has been postponed twice. Journalist Gary Keown thinks there is “a strong case” to remove the club from the SPFL entirely.

Keown called Dundee “an absolute disgrace” in a Sunday article in the Scottish Mail for failing to make sure their pitch is good enough to play on in spite of inclement weather.

He also points out that Dundee should be kicked out of the Scottish Premiership or the league system altogether, citing Falkirk’s exclusion from the previous Scottish Premiership due to inadequate seating in their stadium.

It is obviously too late to revise the rules at this point, as he stated in his column on page 72 of the Scottish Mail on Sunday, April 14. It is necessary to force Dundee to pay up and make a commitment to clearing that mess for the upcoming season, regardless of whether they are attempting to save money for a new stadium.

But why can’t the authorities become a little more adamant if they truly mean business as they claim to?

“I don’t care about plastic pitches, floodlights, or Bronze and Silver Standards. If your pitch cannot withstand the weather, you have no game at all. That is fundamental. the bare minimum. And it is a complete shame that a Premiership team has placed itself in this situation, not to mention the competition they play in.

In light of this, there’s a compelling argument to be made for banishing Dundee from the Premiership, or perhaps the SPFL entirely. After all, it hasn’t been that long since Falkirk’s entry into the former SPL was denied due to insufficient seating at their stadium.

Rangers still waiting to play their game in hand against Dundee

The pitch problems at Dens Park have undoubtedly hurt Rangers, who are vying for the Scottish Premiership title. The match against Dundee has been postponed twice.

Rangers would have taken the lead in the standings with a victory in the match, which was originally scheduled for March 24. However, due to two postponements, the title race has taken on a different look, with the Gers currently sitting one point behind leaders Celtic in second place with a game remaining for the majority of the season.

The match on April 10 was called off after a second pitch inspection by referee Don Robertson, who had earlier deemed the pitch “playable” after his first inspection on the morning of the game. This second postponement was even more absurd than the first, which was scheduled to start on Sunday but was called off on Thursday. Philippe Clement and his team travelled to Dundee for the game.

Rangers will be hoping that a quick fix can be found and that, in spite of the setback, they can still win three points and take the lead in the league standings.

In other Rangers news, there is uncertainty surrounding the planned transfer target’s move to Ibrox.
