Boys, 15 and 14, charged after man assaulted in Durham

Following a man’s assault at a Clarington company, two young kids are being charged.

Just before 8 p.m. on June 26, according to Durham Region police, four young people got into a fight with the owner of a grocery store near Highway 2 and Townline Road South after the owner accused them of stealing things from the store.


According to the police, the youngsters attacked a man who tried to step in and then left the area. Despite not being in danger of death, he was sent to a nearby hospital due to severe injuries. The proprietor of the store was not hurt during the altercation.

The four young people who were taken into custody were found after police used Air1 and the K9 team to search the surrounding area.

A 15-year-old boy from Oshawa has been charged with assault causing bodily harm while a 14-year-old boy from Oshawa has been charged with obstructing a peace officer. Both teens were released on an undertaking.
