Reason Behinde Paul Stastny retirement…..

After 17 seasons in the National Hockey League, veteran forward Paul Stastny has announced his retirement, according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

The 37-year-old last participated in league play with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2022–2023; in 73 games, he scored nine goals and had thirteen assists.

The Colorado Avalanche originally selected Stastny 44th overall in the NHL Draught of 2005.

The Quebec City, Quebec native played 1,145 games over the course of his 17-year career, collecting 293 goals and 822 points with the Avalanche, Hurricanes, St. Louis Blues, Winnipeg Jets, and Vegas Golden Knights.

While playing for the Avalanche in 2011, Stastny was a one-time All-Star. In addition, he became the third youngest player in NHL history to have a 20-game point run (behind only Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux) and set a rookie record for the league. In the end, Evgeni Malkin won the Calder Trophy, with him coming in second.

At the 2013 World Championships, he competed internationally for the United States, leading the team to a bronze medal at the 2014 Olympic Games.
