Goran Ivanisevic, a Kazakh who hopes to finish the 2025 season strong at the WTA Finals, has been hired by Elena Rybakina.
Since pulling out of the US Open, the Kazakh has not participated in a competition, and her second half of the season has been tumultuous.
Additionally, Rybakina sought to dispel certain reports regarding her departure from coach Stefano Vukov soon before the US Open and before the WTA Finals, saying, “I know that a lot of I guess rumours going on.” According to tennishead, Rybakina stated, “But honestly, we just part ways with Stefano.”
“Over the course of five years, I believe we achieved amazing outcomes. We accomplished a great deal. At the age of 200, I began dating him. I believe this is the beginning of the next phase of my career. I want to go on to the next phase.
Rybakina looked to the future after considering the past and declared that Goran Ivanisevic, a former Grand Slam champion, would be her new coach for the upcoming campaign.
Since her breakup with Novak Djokovic in March, Ivanisevic has not played tennis, and the Kazakh gave an explanation for her decision to side with the Croatian. Rybakina said, “I’m really looking forward to this partnership.”
“I’m excited to get started because I think he’s a fantastic champion with a tonne of experience. Getting healthier was vital to me, and with the agents’ assistance, we bonded and simply agreed to get to work. It’s a significant change, of course, but I believe it will be a positive one.
The Kazakh must play in the WTA Finals and face Jasmine Paolini in her opening match on Saturday, where they are deadlocked 2-2, before Rybakina may consider the upcoming season.
