Everton make January move for Burnley player who Sean Dyche knows well:

Everton are eyeing a January move for Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill, according to Football Transfers.

The online outlet reported (22 December) that Toffees boss Sean Dyche remains an admirer of Brownhill, who he managed during his time at Turf Moor.

The Toffees will once again need to box clever in the transfer market this window due to the financial constraints they are having to work within.

Central midfield is an area that Dyce is looking to reinforce, though, according to Football Transfers.

A link that makes sense

Whether this move happens or not you can understand why there would be interest from Dyche, who is a man who knows exactly what he wants from his players and he will know what Brownhill can offer his team.

Moreover, the 28-year-old is about to enter the final six months of his contract so it may be that a deal is able to be struck, whether on loan or a cheap permanent deal, and he has previously been linked to the Toffees.

Everton have strong options in central midfield with the likes of James Garner, Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gueye but they do not have a lot of depth in an important position, so you do get the sense Dyche will be looking to strengthen there.

But the amount of signings Dyche can make will really depend on whether they fit into the financial parameters the club will have to work within again, especially if they do not make any player sales. It will be interesting to see what business can be done.
