In the upcoming match against Liverpool, Sean Dyche may make two midfield changes.

According to Liverpool Echo, Sean Dyche is planning to make changes to his Everton lineup in the upcoming weeks and may play James Garner and Andre Gomes   in midfield.

Abdoulaye Doucoure, Idrissa Gueye, and Amadou Onana have been Dyche’s go-to midfield three for the majority of his time in charge, but after four losses in his last five games, he is thinking about making change.

And a report in the local news outlet (23 September) claims that Portugal international Gomes could get the nod despite being on the verge of an exit for most of the summer window that just passed.

“Sean Dyche assessing Everton midfield options as James Garner and Andre Gomes considered,” they wrote.

“Sean Dyche is considering changes for Everton’s next fixtures with James Garner and Andre Gomes considered for starting roles.”

It would be crazy of Dyche and Everton to stick with this team over and over again if it doesn’t start to produce results really quickly.

When you go attribute for attribute it’s clear that they have everything Dyche wants in a midfield, but they’re not performing as a trio and it’s costing us even this early in the campaign.

It makes no sense not to deploy top possibilities like Garner and Gomes in some way, and giving them the chance in place of underwhelming players is the sensible thing to do.

We are confident in Garner’s abilities because he was a key factor in our team’s success last season. If Gomes can recapture the form that led to our decision to pay top dollar for him from Barcelona, we will also have a top technician on our hands.

Everton must stop losing games and stop waiting passively for things to turn around. This may be the solution.

Dyche provides an explanation of the “tough” choice to let Maupay to go on the deadline day in other Everton news.
