Major Everton concern as key player receives ‘offers from several clubs’ as contract.

Although he is “close” to agreeing to a contract extension at Goodison Park, Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is allegedly drawing attention from “several clubs.”

Since Sean Dyche took over as manager of the team in January, the Mali international has emerged as one of the Toffees’ most vital players.

One of Dyche’s greatest achievements has undoubtedly been Doucoure’s rehabilitation into the Everton first team after he was locked out under Frank Lampard.

Under the former Burnley manager, the midfielder has made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals, the highest of any Everton player during that time.

In the final game of the previous season, Doucoure scored the game-winning goal that kept Everton in the Premier League against Bournemouth, cementing his place in the club’s history.

Though Fabrizio Romano stated last week that Doucoure is “close” to agreeing to a new contract with the Toffees, Doucoure’s current one is scheduled to expire at the end of the current campaign.

Romano said on X, the platform that was once known as Twitter, “EXCL: Abdoulaye Doucoure, set to sign new deal at Everton very soon.”

The understanding is that a new deal, which will last until June 2025, is about to be sealed.

There will be a June 2026 option. Deal in its latter stages, ready for completion.

For Everton supporters, who would surely be pleased to hang onto Doucoure for at least another season, this was welcome news. Additionally, a new agreement would keep the midfield player from leaving the Merseyside team for free the following summer.

In a recent interview, Dyche was questioned about Doucoure’s possible new contract. He said, “Talks are ongoing with all the players and their agents, keeping in the loop with them.”

But if the 30-year-old decides against signing a new contract with Everton, he has “offers on the table from around Europe,” according to journalist Shamoon Hafez.

As things stand, international teams may begin negotiations with the midfielder on a free transfer at the completion of the current campaign on January 1.

But given his “close relationship with the club,” Hafez acknowledges that Doucoure signing a new contract at the Goodison is the most likely scenario.

In light of this, it will be fascinating to watch whether Doucoure, as anticipated, signs a new deal in the coming weeks.
