Exeter City have ten new games to make their season a success*

In order to make the League One season a success, Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell has pushed his team to demonstrate what they can do in their final ten games. Following their 2-1 loss to Peterborough United on Saturday, City is now 15th in the table, six points above the relegation zone.

At London Road, City put up a fierce fight against “the best team in the league,” and in all honesty, they probably did enough to win at least a point. However, they ultimately lost 2-1, bringing their winless streak to four games.

The next matchup for City is at home against Bolton Wanderers, who defeated them 7-0 in the previous meeting and are currently third in the standings with only goal differential separating them from second. However, Caldwell’s club will play opponents lower in the standings in four of their next five games.
The manager remarked, “The fans recognised the effort and quality we had shown and they applauded us off the pitch.” “We can still gain ground, make this a successful season, and improve upon last year. There is a lot to look forward to.”

In my opinion, Peterborough is the best club in the league in terms of talent and style of play, but we played close to even for the majority of the game and managed to hold off Peterborough until the very end. We had the better of the game later on, and we could have gained some advantage from that time. Although it is a huge letdown, there is plenty to be proud of and much to learn from the performance going into the next ten games.

We had a ten-minute period where we had to play with more bravery when we won the ball and sprint out of difficulty rather than kick away and invite more pressure. They are a good team and will at least make the playoffs, if not the automatics. We developed into the game, had chances at the end, and it wasn’t for want of trying we lost the game.”

With just four minutes remaining in the game, Ephron Mason-Clark gave Posh the lead with his 14th goal of the year, finishing first after a scramble in the area. In the 36th minute, Tom Carroll’s deflected attempt tied the score at one goal for City.

Midway through the second half, Peterborough’s lead was regained by Kwame Poku, who scored a 20-yard goal to make it 2-1 after relentless pressure finally told. City made a lot of effort to equalise, but it was unsuccessful.
