Exeter City thoughts have already turned to next season

With the final game of the season now becoming a distant memory – yes, I know it was only a month ago – thoughts turn to the future and to our third season in League One.

We know Gary will be starting this campaign with a more complete squad than last year – and we’ve already seen a good number of contract extensions, including Shaun MacDonald, Yanic Wildschut, Jack Aitchison, and everyone’s joint-favourite Fin Ilamari Niskanen.

Academy players Ed James, Cheick Diabate and Tom Dean have all also signed on the dotted line.

Consider the recruitment team as a football jigsaw puzzle with people in place of the pieces and an ever-changing picture as they scout players and consider how they could fit into the group!

The team will resume full training in June in order to be ready for preseason games in July. These games will take place at Weston-super-Mare, Mousehole, Yeovil Town, and Torquay United. The 2024–25 season will begin on August 10.When the fixtures are announced on June 26, we will find out the location of our first game, and we can’t wait.

Preseason games are a terrific way to watch the team gel and a means for us to express our gratitude to the clubs that select our players, especially our younger players.

Though the football season is over, the club is still working hard to enhance the fan experience throughout. We were one of only 13 teams in the entire English Football League to receive the gold medal for our “exceptional family matchday experience” in the EFL Family Excellence Scheme for the fourth consecutive year.

We sincerely appreciate the Hill family’s assistance over the years. Clifford was incredibly kind to purchase the land and lease it to the club for peppercorn rent years ago; he is yet another individual who has contributed significantly to the future of our club.

Congratulation to the entire outstanding group that has worked really hard to earn promotion by battling their way up the leagues throughout the years. They are currently playing on the third level of the enormous pyramid.Overall, they had an incredible season being undefeated, but they played to the very end, drawing with Bournemouth, who had been their main challengers for the top spot the entire time. in the Euros, which will be aired in June on a large screen.
