Police update after serious Exeter attack*

Three people sustained serious injuries in the incident on Saturday March 30

A teenager arrested on suspicion of injuring three people in Exeter city centre has been bailed while police investigate. A bottle was allegedly used during an assault in Queen Street on Saturday (March 30).

A section of the street was taped off and there was a large emergency services response, including multiple police vehicles and ambulances. Police said three teenagers sustained “potentially serious injuries”.

A 17-year-old boy from North Devon was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed on Tuesday that he has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police are continuing the investigate the circumstances of the incident and have appealed to anyone who may have information or footage to come forward.

DevonLive attended the scene on Sunday morning where blood spatter could be seen around Queen Street and Upper Paul Street.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Officers were called at around 8.10pm on 30 March to Queen Street in Exeter where it was reported that an assault had occurred. It was further reported that a bottle had been used and that three teenagers had sustained potentially serious injuries.

“Enquiries are ongoing in relation to this matter and anyone with information including dash-cam or other video footage of the incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 797 of 30 March.”
