Pinellas County United SC, which is based in St. Petersburg, Florida, will be the newest affiliate of FC Cincinnati, the company announced today. Pinellas County United SC is the first non-regional team to cooperate with FC Cincinnati and the ninth club to sign up for the programme.
Through its collaboration with Pinellas County United SC, the FC Cincinnati Affiliate Program—which was first intended to spread the game in the Cincinnati Tri-State area—has grown nationally. According to Pinellas County United SC President Chris Sessions, “We are excited for our club to be officially affiliated with one of the best clubs in Major League Soccer.”
By teaching coaches and giving their young players opportunity to learn more about the professional pathway within the Major League Soccer (MLS), FC Cincinnati’s Affiliate Programme generates opportunities and benefits for member clubs.
“In the first two years of running our affiliate programme, we have developed many great relationships with clubs in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region,” FC Cincinnati Academy Affiliate Coordinator Adrian Parrish remarked. “We’re excited to grow our programme in a novel and exciting way, and the staff at Pinellas County United SC shares FC Cincinnati’s ambitions.”
Established in 2012, Pinellas County United SC provides services to more than a thousand boys and girls who participate in both recreational and competitive events annually. Don Tobin, Director of Coaching at Pinellas County United SC, stated, “This is a great opportunity for our coaches and players to have access and a pathway to a professional club right here in the United States.”
