FRISCO, Texas – FC Dallas is partnering with Portuguese powerhouse Benfica to bring together two of soccer’s most successful youth academies.
The partnership between the two clubs offers young players a pathway to first-team soccer both in the United States and Portugal.
Tuesday was the first time FC Dallas players trained at Toyota Soccer Center on Camry Field since returning from a two-week stint in Spain.
FC Dallas president Dan Hunt highlighted Benfica’s record 38 league titles and two European cups during a press conference on Tuesday.
Through the sharing of coaching knowledge, young, gifted players will be able to experience other playing styles and cultures, which will further their personal and professional growth.
“This is a wonderful time. Great players have come through FC Dallas for years, and I believe that this relationship will help us elevate the caliber of players here—not just for FC Dallas but also for the national team program,” stated Hunt. “Our vision is to develop the next Patrick Mahomes of soccer.”
The players for FC Dallas are anticipating the upcoming season.
On February 24, there will be a matchup versus the San Jose Earthquakes to start the season.
“We are capable of succeeding beyond expectations. This group can perform. We have the players, the talent, and the mentality. This team’s emphasis on the team is something I adore. “We want to win as many trophies as we can,” defender Omar Gonzalez stated.
Although he is new to FC Dallas, Gonzalez is not local.
After 20 years away, he is thrilled to play for his home team. He was raised in North Texas.
On Tuesday, FC Dallas also revealed their season menu.
Fans will be able to try a wide range of new culinary delights.
