Featherstone Rovers confirm signing of former Warrington Wolves man

Featherstone Rovers looked the most likely side to gain promotion to the Super League from the Championship for several years, however, a string of heart-breaking play-off defeats denied the club the chance to play in the top tier.

Having consistently topped the Championship in previous seasons, Rovers have been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this year. The club has been embroiled in a number of off-field controversies, including a public spat with former player, Dane Chisholm, over unpaid wages.

They were also subject to a winding up petition from investment firm, Investec, according to City AM. However, news that former Featherstone and Leeds Rhinos player, Paddy Handley, had joined the board gave Rovers hope that better times may lie on the horizon.

The team has now confirmed the signing of a Super League player with a good Super League pedigree, which has given them a boost to their on-field prospects for the remainder of the season.

At a club fans’ forum last night, Featherstone confirmed the signing of Dec Patton. He joins the club from the Swinton Lions. Rovers announced the signing on social media site, X (formerly Twitter) this morning. The post stated:

“Great to have you with us, Dec! As James Ford announced at our fans forum last night, we have secured the signing of Dec Patton from Swinton Lions until the end of the season.”
