Florida man accused of attempting to steal plane, crashes into light pole’

Because of the nature of the crime, the investigation was taken on by Intelligence Unit Detectives, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives say they were able to identify the culprit as 43-year-old Bruce Matthew Plummer after looking through the CCTV footage. Plummer may be seen in the video getting on and off one aircraft, turning on the lights of another, and manoeuvring one of the aircraft into the grass so that it is out of the frame of the camera.

A warrant was obtained to search Plummer’s house and car. Detectives claimed to have discovered additional evidence at the residence linking Plummer to the crimes at the airport.

Plummer’s criminal record includes many DUIs and probation violations, according to the sheriff’s office. He was charged with grand theft of more than $100,000, armed burglary of an unoccupied vehicle, and possession of a bulletproof vest while performing certain offences. He was lodged into the county jail.

This criminal’s audacious deeds have brought him to the Marceno Motel, where he rightfully belongs.”
