Fulham have joined London rivals West Ham and Brentford in the race for Plymouth star Morgan Whittaker, sources have told Football Insider.
The 23-year-old has been a standout performer in the Championship this season and his form has not gone unnoticed by several Premier League clubs.
The star of Plymouth has scored six goals in his previous six league contests.
Fulham is prepared to enter the competition for the signing of Whittaker, an attacking midfielder, after Brentford and West Ham watched him closely in an attempt to increase their attacking options.
In the competition for the division’s Golden Boot, he is only trailed by Sammie Szmodics after 14 Championship strikes this season.
Whittaker’s loan period at Home Park ended a few months earlier, and he returned to Plymouth permanently last summer (2023).
The former Swansea player reportedly only cost Argyle a club record £1 million plus add-ons.
In the first half of the 2022–23 season, the midfield player helped Plymouth win promotion to the Championship with nine goals and seven assists. However, in January 2023, Swansea called up the player.
After going back to Wales, he played for the Swans for 15 games last season and scored just once.
Whittaker could now fetch a huge profit for Plymouth should he decide to join the Premier League.
This season, the Devon club is eight points clear of the relegation zone in the Championship, sitting in 19th place.
Three London teams, Fulham, Brentford, and West Ham, are ranked 13th, 16th, and sixth in the Premier League standings, respectively.
In other news, Fulham is trying to sign a defender from Ligue 1.
