Standard Sport understands the Fluminense midfielder is a target at Craven Cottage, with chief executive Alistair Mackintosh flying to Brazil for face-to-face talks last month.
Manager Marco Silva is expected to be backed in the transfer market after signing a new contract until the summer of 2025.
In November, Mackintosh watched the 22-year-old international from Brazil lead Fluminense over Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores final at the Maracana stadium.

It’s thought that discussions between the clubs went on in anticipation of a possible £30 million transfer.
It would be a huge coup for the west London side to land Andre. Manchester United and Liverpool have both previously shown interest in the player; however, the former are reportedly now concentrating on more defensive targets, while the latter have only made one inquiry thus far.
“I watch the Premier League and it’s a big dream to play there one day,” Andre stated in an interview with Premier League Brasil.
“My goal is to win the Club World Cup and to finish the season at Fluminense,” the player said. However, I have one clear dream: to play in the Premier League.
Although Jonas Wind, a Danish international who plays forward for Wolfsburg, is drawing interest from across Europe as well as from other Premier League teams, the club is also keen on the player.
Although Raul Jimenez of Fulham has improved recently after a slow start, none of Silva’s players have scored more than five goals in the Premier League this year.
After Aleksandr Mitrovic left, Silva had less options when it came to attacking, and Wind could be a possibility for the January transfer window.
