Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha’s entourage are refusing to comment on a possible transfer away from the club in the coming weeks, with Bayern Munich still deliberating over what to do in January.
Sport 1 (as reported by FCB Inside) claims that Bayern’s management are still unsure of the precise kind of player they should be targeting.
They claim that there is still “internal disagreement” about the kind of midfield player Bayern should sign—a “ball progressor” like Thiago Alcantara, who has shown promise for the team in the past, or a “destroyer” like Palhinha.
The Germans are familiar with Palhinha, of course, having attempted to buy him at the conclusion of the summer transfer window when Fulham closed it due to an inability to find a replacement.
Although there is a growing perception that the file has been closed, Sport 1 insists that this is not the case—at least not yet. Instead, his representatives said that more details “will follow soon” on his potential commitment to Bayern Munich but they do not yet wish to speak.
They appear to be keeping their options open and acting cautiously, especially as Bayern is still in the process of making their decision.
They haven’t decided on the kind of midfielder they want, so Palhinha of Fulham is still up for grabs.
