Fulham boss Marco Silva says Calvin Bassey should be fit to face Everton in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.
The defender missed the 3-0 defeat at Newcastle because of illness but is expected to be available for Tuesday’s game. Tim Ream remains sidelined and is likely to be out until the new year.
Silva said: “He (Bassey) is going to be available. He will have another (training) session, but I think it is enough time for him to recover for the game. But Tim Ream and Adama Traore are still out.
The Whites would advance to the competition’s semifinals for the first time in their history with a victory at Goodison Park.
Silva, who was the Everton manager from May 2018 to December 2019, has won both of his trips back to his old team as the Fulham manager. However, he will be up against a strong opponent who has won four straight games after being docked 10 points.
Eight Premier League away games have seen Fulham lose, and striker Rl Jimenez will not play due to his red card against Newcastle.
but maintains that despite the possibility of reaching uncharted territory, his players won’t feel under pressure when they travel to Merseyside.
“We are in a very good moment,” he declared. The game was altered by Jimenez’s red card, but it won’t end the good run we were having prior to that match. This will not be the last game we play together.
There’s just ambition, not pressure. It doesn’t mean you’re under pressure to accomplish something the football team has never done; it just goes to show what we have accomplished as a team.
“Every player and staff have performed incredibly well. We wanted to advance after reaching the FA Cup quarterfinals the previous season.
“But we’re not satisfied with quarterfinals and semifinals; we want more.” It’s moving
