Former Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi has finally acknowledged that leaving the organization this summer in order to join Fulham was a difficult choice.
Iwobi gave a lengthy interview to The Athletic in which he discussed the reasons behind his leaving.
Although the midfielder acknowledged his desire for a fresh challenge, he also disclosed that there were some details that he was not permitted to disclose.
Iwobi remarked of his personal choice to leave: “It wasn’t an easy decision.
“I had a great time there. especially during the past few years. It seemed like the Everton supporters warmed up to me.
The midfielder said that he was looking for a new challenge, but he also said that there were some aspects that he was not allowed to discuss.
Regarding his decision to depart, Iwobi said: “It wasn’t an easy decision.
“There, I had a terrific time. particularly over the previous couple years. The Everton fans looked to be warming up to me.
Iwobi claims that Everton wanted him to move on to Fulham.
Of course, on the final day of the transfer window, Fulham did pay £22 million for Iwobi.
Marco Silva of Fulham was eager to work with Iwobi again after their brief time together at Everton.
Iwobi’s season has gotten off to somewhat of a rocky start at both teams due to a persistent hamstring problem.
Iwobi, though, would be aiming to earn his first league start for Fulham tonight after playing 90 minutes against Norwich in the EFL Cup last week.
The Cottagers may be hoping for another victory against their neighbors, who are experiencing yet another difficult season, when they visit rival Chelsea.
It would be premature to claim that Iwobi is missing from Everton, but some supporters might still be baffled by the choice to sell to Fulham.
