Fulham table £25m bid for Crystal Palace

Fulham table £25m bid for Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen – who is valued at £40m – as Eagles face battle to keep hold of their first choice centre backs

Fulham‘s interest in Marc Guehi‘s central defensive partner Joachim Andersen complicates Newcastle’s swoop for the defender.

The west London side have tabled a second offer, worth an initial £25million and an additional £5m in add-ons, for Denmark star Andersen, though sources insist the bid will not be enough to tempt Palace into selling.

Palace value Andersen, 28, at £40m. The defender played for Fulham on loan from Lyon in the 2020-21 season, before joining Palace on a permanent deal that summer.

Asked if Palace, who have already sold Michael Olise to Bayern Munich, would sell Guehi and Andersen this summer, Parish told the BBC: ‘I can’t imagine a situation where we would lose both of our centre-backs. We have got to sit and think about the right thing to do. If both of them are still here at the end of the window I wouldn’t be surprised.’

The Eagles’ form improved dramatically last season when Oliver Glasner took the reigns in February, and it is expected that the club will again look to kick on this term.

For many years, Andersen and Guehi have constituted the core of Palace’s defensive line; the latter joined the squad the same summer as his colleague.

Newcastle makes a revised £55 million offer for Marc Guehi, a defender for Crystal Palace.
Chris Richards was a regular member of Glasner’s back three as the squad neared the conclusion of the previous campaign.

Daniel Munoz, a January acquisition, plays on the right wing back position, while Tyrick Mitchell shifts to the left.

In the event that either defender leaves before the window closes, Palace is anticipated to attempt to make more acquisitions.

Before the new season, Eddie Howe declared Guehi his top objective for central defence, and he completely supports Newcastle’s move to sign one of England’s stars of Euro 2024. However, there is an acceptance that the club need to sign a new central defender this summer with sources indicating the Magpies may consider other options if Palace continue their stance.
