A man was taken to hospital after a crossbow was fired at him as he walked along a Gillingham street. The victim was approached by another man in Victoria Street.
The second man is reported to have fired a small, black crossbow towards the victim’s leg. The offender then left the area and the victim made his way to a nearby address.
An ambulance was called and he was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged.
Kent Police said the incident happened on Thursday, February 8. Detectives want to hear from anyone who was in the area between 3pm and 7pm.
PC Stuart Drakeley of Swale’s Criminal Investigation Department said: ‘We do believe that the offender will have been walking in the area and it is likely that the crossbow would have been visible as it was too big to conceal in a bag. We also believe that the suspect and victim are known to each other.
‘We want to talk to anyone with information who might have been in the area between 3pm and 7pm. Anyone with CCTV footage or dashcam footage should also contact us.”
Anyone with information should contact Kent Police on 01634 792209, quoting reference 46/22545/24. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or complete the online form.
