A teenager was stabbed in Gillingham, and five individuals have been taken into custody. The attack took place on Thursday, March 9, at approximately 4:55 p.m. in the High Street.
The teenage lad was allegedly attacked outside a shop when he was talking to a group of people, according to Kent Police. With stab wounds, the 17-year-old victim was sent to a hospital in London, where his condition is still serious but stable.
Four boys, ages 17 and 19, from Gillingham, and two 16-year-olds from Hertfordshire, were taken into custody yesterday, March 10, according to confirmation from the police. They were suspected of attempting to murder.
Additionally, an 18-year-old Rochester resident was taken into custody on charges of planning an assault. While investigations are ongoing, all five are still being held.
Law enforcement officials are still searching for witnesses to the incident and are advising anyone with information to contact the appeal line. Residents with private CCTV and drivers equipped with dashcams are also urged to search for potentially useful material.
