Keith Millen: Gillingham interim boss charged by FA over sending-off in defeat at Walsall

The Football Association has charged Keith Millen, the temporary manager of Gillingham, with misconduct following his dismissal from the match against Walsall.

In the 28th minute of the Gills’ 4-1 defeat, Millen, 57, was sent to the stands for tripping Walsall winger Tom Knowles as he tried to take a throw-in.

He has until Friday, October 20th, to respond to a behaviour accusation.

After Neil Harris was fired in early October, Millen was in charge of his third game in interim leadership.

When a manager is given a red card, they usually face a one-game touchline ban, though the length of the punishment might vary based on how serious the offence was.

Meanwhile, Gillingham has announced that Millen will continue to lead the team for Saturday’s League Two home match against County.

The team said that he will be permitted to on the pitch for the Magpies’ visit, deferring any possible suspension until after the outcome of his FA hearing.

The manager of Priestfield Stadium position at Gillingham, Brad Galinson, stated on Wednesday that the team had interviewed “20-plus candidates” and he would meet with those who made the short list the following week.

“In a message to Gills supporters, I understand the importance of this appointment and appreciate your patience,” he continued.

Keith Millen is in his seventh spell as an interim head coach following two such periods at Bristol City, three at Crystal Palace and one at MK Dons
