Gillingham files an appeal following Sam Slocombe’s head injury sustained while playing for Notts County | Alleges a vaporizer was thrown from the Priestfield crowd.
At Priestfield on Saturday, visiting goalie Sam Slocombe sustained a cut to his head after what appeared to be an object striking him.
The League 2 match between Gillingham and Notts County was delayed at the beginning of second-half stoppage-time due to the claim made by visiting manager Luke Williams that his custodian had been struck by what he believed to be a vaporizer. Since then, the Gills have made a request to identify the offender.
At that point in the game, the Gills were down 2-1 and desperate to turn things around.
Williams believed that the incident was inappropriate for a game that was being watched by about 7,000 people in Gillingham and attributed it to one individual “making a terrible decision.”
