Gillingham Solve Striker Issues by making offer for premier league attacker#

Their difficulty accessing the internet has become a major problem. With just 21 goals in the regular season, the team’s hopes of making the playoffs now rest on whether or not they can sign a big-name striker during the January transfer window. A prolific striker might give Gillingham’s front line the much-needed boost.

According to Kent Online, the Gills are the most recent team to be linked to Jonson Clarke-Harris, a striker for Peterborough United. However, they may have to surpass their own previous transfer record, which was £600,000 paid to Reading for Carl Asaba back in 1998.

Since his summer move to Bristol Rovers fell through, Clarke-Harris has been one of the most talked about players this transfer window. The striker’s contract expires at the end of the season, so it appears he will be leaving Posh in January. In light of that, it would be shocking if they decided not to sell the 29-year-old during this window, as he could simply walk off the pitch as soon as the season ended.

Given his stellar record as the joint top scorer in League One last season with 26 goals, it’s no surprise that several clubs are vying for Clarke-Harris’ talent. The Jamaican international has continued to score goals despite a change in his role at Peterborough, scoring six goals in 17 League One games this season.

If Gillingham wants to make the playoffs this year, they need to improve their offensive output. A well-known player joining their attacking group could make the team favourites to advance, rather than just in the running for the title. Given his value, Clarke-Harris might be a stretch, but Peterborough might prefer to sell him to a League Two team rather than a direct rival. This could result in a bidding war for the striker, in which Gillingham might take part considering their present situation. It is still unclear, though, if they will be able to pay the 29-year-old’s wage demands in addition to the transfer fee.

Johnson Clark-Harris has the goal-scoring ability Gillingham may be looking for, but his high salary demands may put a strain on the team’s finances, so it’s important to think about the financial implications of securing his services. That being said, maybe they ought to look into other possibilities. Bradford’s Jake Young is one such prospect that catches their eye.

Young, who is 22 years old, has already proven he is a capable goal scorer by tallying an amazing 16 goals for Swindon this season while on loan. With his potential and the value he could bring to the team both on and off the pitch, he is undoubtedly a more promising investment for the future.
