gratitude to former Gillingham boss Neil Harris as he gets his teeth into Maidstone United loan

Maidstone debtor Neil Harris, the fired Gillingham manager, was hailed as an inspiration to Joe Gbode during his career.

At Priestfield, Harris gave Gbode his first-team debut, and one of his final decisions as Gills manager was to approve a loan transfer for Gbode to the Stones for a month.

The 18-year-old was taken aback to hear of Harris’ termination and would always be grateful for what he accomplished for him.

Striker Gbode remarked, “It’s been a really strange week.” It came as a huge surprise.

He took the time to get to know me, provided excellent coaching, and provided me with a wealth of advice that will help me in my future endeavours.

“I owe a lot to him since he’s been a really motivating person in my football career thus far.
