Kent Police close road this morning no movement after incident*

Kent Police have been issued extra powers this weekend to tackle dangerous drivers and anti-social behaviour. Patrols will be conducted across Medway, Rochester and Gillingham.

Police will have the right to arrest anyone returning to an area where the order is in place. This comes after reports of racing, drifting and excessive noise have been made in recent weeks.

The order was launched on Friday, March 14 at 5pm and will lift on Sunday, March 17 at 5am. Specific areas include in the Medway City Estate and Medway Valley Leisure Park, Rochester’s Hoath Way, Ito Way and Yokosuka Way, Gillingham’s The Chattenden area and Peninsular Way, and Hoo and Chatham Dockside Outlet car park.

Further dispersal orders will also be in place until 5pm on Sunday, March. 17 on the A21 Tonbridge Bypass and Flimwell Crossroads, North Farm industrial estate and Half Moon Lane. Superintendent Nick Sparkes said: “We are committed to ensuring residents and visitors enjoy their community without being disturbed by a small minority of people using their vehicles to commit anti-social behaviour.

“Officers will be patrolling the county, and anyone found causing a nuisance will be required to leave and may be prosecuted. Anyone that chooses to return to the area once dispersed can expect to be detained.”

To report anti-social behaviour head to the Kent Police website. If a crime is in progress, please don’t hesitate to call 999.
