According to Sione Tuipulotu, staying in Scotstoun “just made sense…”

Before opting to sign a new contract to remain at Glasgow Warriors, Sione Tuipulotu claims he had the chance to join teams in France and England.

The Scotland captain claims he can fulfil all of his goals at Scotstoun and has committed to the Warriors through the summer of 2028.

During a press conference held in advance of tomorrow’s encounter with South Africa, Tuipulotu stated: “I could have chosen to go to the [English] Premiership or France.

“With my agency, I was really explicit and

Since I believe it’s the proper thing to do, I was fairly forthright with Glasgow that I would be looking into my options elsewhere.

“When it came down to it, I had maybe a few offers somewhere else and the Glasgow offer, and the Glasgow one just made sense to me.”

Prior to joining Glasgow in 2021, Tuipulotu played for Yamaha Jubilo in Japan. He was a major contributor to the URC victory the previous season.

“My heart’s really in it at Glasgow and I think that just correlates to how I want to play,” he stated.

“I guess the impulse to try to go somewhere else never goes away. However, I had already relocated to Glasgow from Japan after leaving Melbourne.

and I had a feeling that I was content with my current situation.

“I’m content where I am, so why strive to find anything more, somewhere else?

“I guess you might feel a little guilty when you eventually sign. However, I’m just relieved that I didn’t have to go somewhere else to play at a supposedly higher-profile team or chase money.

“I’m content with my current location in Glasgow. Why move when I have a strong chance of chasing trophies in Glasgow?
