Man dies after horror crash which shut road

A man has died following a horror crash which saw a busy road closed for over five hours.

As we previously reported, a three-vehicle incident resulted in the closure of the A725 Shawhead flyover at the intersection with the A8.

The road was stopped until approximately 5.30 pm after 999 crews hurried to the site at around 11.20 am.
As of right now, police have identified the cars as a black Mini Cooper, a white Ford Transit flatbed, and a red HGV.
Sadly, the 50-year-old guy who was operating the Transit was declared dead at the site.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time,” Sergeant Ross Allison stated.

At the site, the people inside the other cars were examined.

Investigators are currently working to determine what transpired during the startling event.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also appeal for anyone who was driving in the area and who may have dash-cam footage that could assist to contact us.”
