Huge ”Injury” Blow For State…

During the Kings’ overtime victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, De’Aaron Fox escaped major injury but did suffer a significant sprain to his right ankle.
The Kings will play the Golden State Warriors at Chase Centre on Wednesday night, travelling 85 miles to the southwest, without their star point guard.

After suffering a moderate right ankle sprain during Sunday night’s 132-127 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at Golden 1 Centre, De’Aaron Fox will miss his opening game of the 2023–24 season. His status following the game will be ascertained at a later date, but the Kings have announced he will miss Wednesday’s contest.

Davion Mitchell, a third-year guard for the Kings, will start in his stead for the matchup in San Francisco, Northern California.

Mitchell spent the entire summer honing his shooting technique. Even though his preparation in the offseason hasn’t shown on the court yet this year, this could be the perfect chance for him to demonstrate his progress.

After practise on Tuesday, Mitchell told reporters, “You can’t really fill in De’Aaron Fox’s shoes, but you can try to help your team out in different ways.” “So I think that’s what I’m doing.”

Known as “Off-Night” due to his exceptional on-ball defence, the 25-year-old has caused numerous opposing offences and ball handlers problems.

These two squads know each other really well. Since April, they have squared off 11 times, and Mitchell’s main concern has been attempting to lock down Steph Curry each time.

Curry can truly run circles around most people, but he usually keeps up better. However, he’ll be doing more than simply defence on Wednesday. Mitchell will need to step up on the other end of the court as well now that Fox is out.

This season, Fox has already averaged 31.3 points on 48.6 percent shooting, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.0 assists.

Fox’s consistent scoring and clutch performance will be missed by the King, but this is a great chance for Mitchell and the other guys to step up and pull together.
