Sad news for Warriors as play in a state of no return

Guard Patrick McCaw of the Golden State Warriors hasn’t played in a game since sustaining a lumbosacral bone bruise in a victory over the Sacramento Kings on March 31, but his recuperation is going well.

His reevaluation was conducted on Thursday, according to the Warriors, who also stated that he “is making steady functional progress and, as a result, has been cleared to begin modified on-court shooting and running drills.” Under the direction of the team’s training staff, McCaw will continue to improve his general strength and fitness in addition to his on-court work. He’ll get another evaluation in four weeks.”

This is in response to Melissa Rohlin of the Bay Area News Group’s April 15 report, which stated that McCaw claimed the pain kept him from resting at night.

Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press granted the Thursday update was welcome news, “but it’s clear his season is over.”

McCaw suffered the injury when Kings swingman Vince Carter undercut him on a layup attempt, causing him to fall hard to the floor. He was stretchered off the court, and a number of people on each team—including Carter—were visibly distraught after the incident.

McCaw tweeted he knew Carter didn’t intentionally try to hurt him.

The Warriors guard played in 57 games this season and averaged 4.0 points and 1.4 assists a night behind 40.9 percent shooting from the field.

Golden State is still in ideal position without him and leads the New Orleans Pelicans 2-0 in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.
