Every Warriors fan laughed when Andrew Wiggins was unexpectedly downgraded to out on Thursday against the LA Clippers due to a sore finger. As it happens, the injury is not quite that bad.
The specifics of Wiggins’ injury were disclosed by Anthony Slater of The Athletic, and it appears that he slammed a car door with his right index finger. Wiggins has had trouble shooting the basketball as a result of the injury, but Warriors head coach Steve Kerr thinks it will only be temporary.
The absence of Chris Paul and Gary Payton II from the Warriors will already leave them shorthanded, but against the LA Clippers, it made no difference. In Wiggins’ absence, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, and Dario Saric—all of the younger players and role players—stepped up.
The Golden State Warriors improved to 9-10 on the season with their surprising victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday. It’s at least one game below.500, but it’s still far below where they want to be. This team can unexpectedly find themselves in a strong position in the Western Conference if they can string together a few victories.
The Warriors must defeat the LA Clippers once more on Saturday, but this time on the road, in order to get back on track. Though it’s unclear if Andrew Wiggins will be available for that match, it’s obvious the Warriors can defeat Los Angeles without him.
