After a disappointing loss to the LA Clippers on Saturday afternoon, the Golden State Warriors have announced that Trayce Jackson-Davis is going back to the G-League. With Golden State not playing again until Wednesday, Jackson-Davis will have the opportunity to play for the Santa Cruz Warriors on Tuesday when they face the Ontario Clippers. In their announcement on the roster move, the Warriors wrote the following: “The Golden State Warriors have assigned center/forward Trayce Jackson-Davis to the team’s G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, it was announced today. Jackson-Davis is expected to play in Santa Cruz’s game tomorrow night against the Ontario Clippers at Toyota Arena (7 p.m. PST tipoff). In three games (all starts) with the Santa Cruz Warriors this season, Jackson-Davis is averaging 19.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.3 blocks in 27.7 minutes per game. Jackson-Davis has appeared in 13 games with Golden State, averaging 3.0 points and 1.8 rebounds in 7.9 minutes per game.”
Jackson-Davis will almost certainly be recalled for Golden State’s next game, which is against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, but for the time being, it makes sense to keep him with the G-League squad to receive valuable game experience. With little opportunities in the NBA, the Warriors want Jackson-Davis to continue growing in the G-League by playing consistently whenever possible.
