Four arrested after fight involving knife, machete on Grimsby street*

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Woodyard Court.
After a brawl in broad daylight on a Grimsby street involving a knife, machete and metal bar, four persons have been taken into custody. At approximately 1:30 pm on Saturday, there were complaints of persons fighting in the street with weapons and damaging a piece of property. As a result, police were summoned to Woodyard Court. The event also caused injuries to a guy, who was brought to a hospital to receive treatment for what are believed to be minor wounds. Three males and one youngster were taken into custody by officers on Wellington Street. Three individuals—a 24-year-old guy, two males in their 21st years, and a 15-year-old boy—were detained by police on suspicion of affray.

The investigation’s lead detective, Detective Inspector Jayne Coutts, stated: “We do believe this to be an isolated incident between people who know each other, but I know an incident like this will cause concern among the community.”While our investigation is ongoing, a cordon is still in place, and the neighbourhood should anticipate seeing more police officers there as they pursue several lines of inquiry to determine the incident’s facts and identify every person involved.

“Thoughtful searches of the area have yielded a knife from a car thought to be related to the incident, as well as what appear to be a metal bar and machete,” the officers report.
