Woman in her 50s dies after fatal crash in Guildford

She sadly died in the early hours of this morning

Early this morning (August 8), there was a deadly crash in Lightwater that resulted in the death of a woman.

Around 2:30 in the morning, the woman was engaged in an accident with a car while walking. Rescuers raced to the A322 Lightwater bypass, which is located between the Gordon Boys roundabout and the M3. The woman, who appeared to be in her 50s, was declared deceased on the spot despite their best attempts.
One of the involved cars’ drivers pulled over to help the police. After police conducted an investigation, the road was closed during the night and into this morning. It has since reopened. Since then, Surrey Police has reported this incident to the police watchdog.

Police are also looking for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly looking to trace the pedestrian’s whereabouts in the moments before she died.
A Surrey Police spokesman stated: “We are currently attempting to track the pedestrian’s activities before the collision. Did you use the A322 yesterday night between 3 a.m. and midnight? Have you noticed somebody strolling beside the southbound carriageway?
