Missing Harrogate man found deceased

GLADIANS CREEK: On Wednesday, the body of a missing Tennessee man for whom a silver alert had been issued was discovered in Knox County, Kentucky.

The Harrogate resident Curtis Mason, 86, was discovered deceased in the Knox County area near Goldens Creek, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has released a Silver Alert, advising people in the counties in southeast Kentucky and east Tennessee to be on the lookout for Mason’s 2004 Pontiac Montana van.

The Claiborne County man was last seen on Feb. 26. KCSO reported that the van had been captured by business cameras in Middlesboro, Pineville, and along KY 92 during this time. Multiple law enforcement agencies and family members search for several weeks before individuals spotted the van near KY 1809.

According to KCSO, Mason was pronounced dead by Knox County Coroner Mike Blevins and his body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.

Additionally, no foul play is suspected in these case.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Department investigation is being led by Lieutenant Sam Mullins with assistance from the Knox County Special Ops Response Team; Claiborne County detectives and TBI are are in charge of the Tennessee investigation.
