As Pools held National League leaders Barnet to a goalless draw on Saturday, the 22-year-old recorded his fourth straight home clean sheet, keeping the team within striking distance of the top seven.
Pools were closer to the relegation zone than the playoffs when controversial previous manager Darren Sarll was fired in October, but they have had a strong run of play under new manager Lennie Lawrence, cutting the difference to only two points.
Lawrence, along with new head coach Anthony Limbrick and new first team coach Gavin Skelton, has settled on a formation that seems to get the best out of his players, given his squad more freedom to express themselves and got Pools organised defensively.
While Pools now turn their attention to this weekend’s visit of Tamworth in the FA Trophy, seven points from their last three league games has got supporters dreaming of National League glory come the end of the campaign.
Additionally, Young is certain that his team can succeed for the rest of the season and thinks Pools have more than enough to guarantee their place in the top seven.
“Definitely,” he responded.
The caliber of the guys’ lockers is 100% adequate for the playoffs or even pushing higher, as I stated when I initially arrived.
“We got off to a sticky start but I feel like now we’re gelling as a team, we’re believing in each other and we’re pushing on.”
