Hartlepool United-linked Peter Jameson has parted ways with Harrogate Town

Harrogate Town have decided not to extend his contract following the end of the season and he will now become a free agent. He spent time on loan at Hartlepool United in the last campaign in the National League.

Jameson, 31, will have to consider his options as a free agent after his contract with Wetherby Road officially expires at the end of the next month. As they get ready for another season in the fifth division, the Pools “may” aim to make a permanent move for him this summer, according to a report published in The Hartlepool Mail last week.

The goalkeeper is expected to leave the Sulphurites and become unemployed shortly, according to the Harrogate Advertiser. Since2022, he has been a member of the Yorkshire Club.

Now that the door has opened, Hartlepool United may entice Jameson to move permanently back to the North East if they so choose.

They turned to the former Stevenage man late last month and are getting ready for life under new manager Darren Sarll.

Harrogate Town landed Jameson just over two years ago to bolster their goalkeeping department.

After that, he participated in 31 games for them in all competitions, but this past season, he lost favor.

After the Pools were relegated from League Two in July of last year, the stopper was sent out on loan. After that, Jameson spent 21 games at Victoria Park before returning to his parent team.

Prior to joining Simon Weaver’s team, the former Middlesbrough academy player played for Darlington, Blyth Spartans, and York City.

What next for Harrogate Town and Jameson?

Hartlepool United have a decision to make as to whether to bring him back for next term or let him join someone else.

His exit from Harrogate Town frees up space and funds in their ranks as they look to bring in some new faces over the coming months.

Weaver’s men have been in the Football League now since 2020 and have done well to stay there for four years.

They finished 13th in this past season and will be looking to build on that. The Sulphurites were seven points short of the play-offs in the end.
