Pools announce second signing of the season

Experienced midfielder Jack Hunter has arrived at the Suit Direct Stadium as Darren Sarll’s second signing of the 2024/25 campaign.

The 26-year-old has agreed to join Pools upon the expiration of his contract at Halifax at the end of this month, subject to National League and FA approval.

Hailing from the North East, Hunter has played over 100 games in the National League, successfully registering a play-off finish with Halifax last campaign.

The midfielder, who is also adept at centre-back, won the FA Trophy during his two-year stay with the Shaymen, where he played with current Pools frontman Mani Dieseruvwe.

Hunter also enjoyed spells with Newcastle United and Gateshead earlier in his career, playing an important role as the Heed lifted the National League North title in 2022.

He joins Luke Charman, a former Newcastle teammate, in signing o Sarll’s team for the following campaign.

Upon joining Pools, Hunter stated:

“Having worked on the Club for a long time, I’m excited to be here. My motivation to come here was greatly influenced by the gaffer’s ambitions for the Club and for using me, which I was aware of from our first talk. Over the past few years, I’ve grown a lot, and I’m eager to share my knowledge from my time in Halifax and Gateshead. I’ve had the opportunity to play football at the Suit Direct Stadium twice, and both times I found it to be an excellent venue with a great atmosphere. It’s exciting for me to be returning to the Northeast and getting going here.

Pools manager Darren Sarll added:

“When we first met Jack a while back, it was evident how humble he was and how driven he was to play for Hartlepool United. While I was researching Jack, I couldn’t help but be impressed by his previous seasons in Halifax, especially the one where they finished above us and made it to the playoffs. His profile matched in perfectly with how I want this new midfield to look.

“His humble performances are essential to building winning conditions, and his selfless approach to playing for his teams is a reflection of his nature.
